Following a couple of
experimental vans, this revised air brake van was built in quite
large numbers. The underframe had a deeper bellied frame and 100 were
fitted with 'Taperlite' suspension for improved high speed
performance. The comparatively complex door arrangement fell out of
favour and led to many being rebuilt from the late 1980s, many
becoming 'Sea Urchin' open spoil wagons (ZCA).
