review
in RAILWAY MODELLER August 1987
Taylor Plastic Models are already well-known to N gauge modellers for their coach side inlays, and now they have introduced a modern wagon kit to fit on a PECO NR-122 chassis. It builds up into a HBA/HEA hopper (not to be confused with the Merry-Go-Round HAA/HDA type) and consists of six moulded components plus etched ladders. The kit is available in bauxite or Railfreight grey.

NOTE: This review refers to the original body only version of the kit, now superseded. The extra detail parts to bring those up to current standard are available, ref: 1800/1801
Prototype
info: 360000-361997, built
1976-9
Originally coded HBA, these wagons replaced the vacuum or
unbraked 21t coal hoppers and were used on non-Merry-Go-Round
services, including Speedlink. Suspension was upgraded with
Bruninghaus springs from 1981, the converted wagons being recoded
HEA. All were altered by 1985. 245 of these wagons were modified to
carry scrap in 1987-8. In the 1990s a large number were converted to
MEAs (box opens) and later still cut down further for use as ballast
spoil wagons (MFA).
